This week saw St Neots Nicetri members competing around the country and Europe is some really big and prestigious races.

On Thursday Powerhouse Ed Porteus raced in the British National Time Trial Championships in Stockton-on-Tees. This event was only open to the top 40 Time Trialists in the country and featured pro-riders, some who compete in the Tour de France. This was the first time that Ed had raced in the event and was feeling very confident after his Tour of Cambridge Time trial result. Ed had a great race over the 28.8 miles and finished in 1:03:30, averaging over 27mph. Ed came 23rd in the event which was won by Alex Dowsett.

The next race was undertaken by Jeremy Hill, who was competing in the ETU Aquathlon European Championship in Chateauroux, France, which consisted of a 1km non-wetsuit swim followed by a 5km run. This was the first time that Jeremy had competed for GB and he came a respectable 19th position and 9th GB in his M45-49 age group. Jeremy and club team mate Paul Ridley both also raced in the ETU Sprint distance triathlon on Sunday and both had a great race. Paul Ridley had storming last 5km posting a sub 18 minute time.

This Sunday saw the superbly organised Nicetri events races at the regatta meadow in St Neots. There were many members of the team racing at this event. The conditions were really tough with heavy rain the night before, meaning that the swim conditions were extremely hard. Tom Stead put in a fine performance to come second overall in the sprint distance. Sam Williams also had a good race in the standard distance and came 8th overall.  A big mention also needs to go to Michaela Ridley who undertook her first race in over a year due to an injury. Michaela said the swim was brutal but luckily the old injury was fine and she came second in her age group.

Sunday also saw Michael Taylor undertake Ironman Austria which consisted of a 2.2 mile swim, 112 mile bike and then a marathon to finish. Mike completed the race in an amazing 9:26 minutes the fastest so far by any member of St Neots Nicetri. Mike came 5th Briton home in a field with some of the best of Europe's professional and amateur athletes. The result is even more incredible as Micheal had broke his toe and ribs earlier in the year.

The last race was completed by Ian Moran who undertook Triathlon X which is reputably the hardest long distance event in the world. Ian said that the event almost brought him to tears but he completed and will be going back next year.
